Redding

Redding is in Shasta County in northern California, in the United States. Located on interstate highway I-5, it is the largest city in California north of Sacramento. It is slightly south of Mount Shasta and Shasta Lake.

Redding is served by Amtrak's Coast Starlight. The times are a bit annoying — the southbound train arrives just after midnight, and the northbound just after 5AM.

The Greyhound bus line serves Redding. It is located at 1321 Butte St., and the phone number is (530) 241-2070.

There is a municipal airport in Redding [1] that serves Arcata, Los Angeles, Portland, and San Francisco. It is located south of Redding.

RABA [2] is the city bus line in Redding. It also has routes that go to Shasta College [3], Burney, and Anderson. The terminal is at the corner of Yuba and California St., and the base fare is $1.50 (and $0.75 for a zone change).

The Sundial Bridge

A 300-acre park, containing the 200-acre McConnell Arboretum and 20 acres of botanical gardens. The park spans the Sacramento River and is linked by one of Redding's most well-known landmarks: the Sundial Bridge, a 700-foot pedestrian footbridge designed by architect/engineer Santiago Calatrava.

• The Sacramento River Trail is a loop trail that starts at the base of the Dieselhorst Bridge, then goes almost to Keswick Dam, crosses a bridge, and goes back. This trail is by far the most popular in Redding.
