Kata Beach is on the west coast of Phuket, south of Karon Beach.

Many consider Kata Beach (Ao Kata) to be a more relaxed, "g-rated" alternative to Patong. At Kata the water is clearer, the beaches are quieter, and the atmosphere is more family-friendly.
