Düsseldorf [1] is a city in western Germany located on the Rhine river. It is the capital city of the state North Rhine-Westphalia.

Düsseldorf has a large international airport (IATA:DUS). The airport Cologne/Bonn (IATA:CGN) is about 60 minutes drive away from Düsseldorf, the smaller airport Weeze (IATA:NRN) about 90 minutes. This smaller airport is frequented mainly by low-cost airlines flying to other small airports within Europe. The Airport Düsseldorf-Mönchengladbach (IATA:MGL) can be reached within 40 minutes (currently Mönchengladbach Airport is not served).

The Old Town (Altstadt) of Düsseldorf is very beautiful and well-known as "the largest bar in the world". You can find the Alt beer in a lot of tradtionally breweries like the "Uerige", "Füchschen", "Schlüssel" or "Schumacher". Internationally well-known is the Königsallee of Düsseldorf, called the "Kö". Many high level fashion stores are at the Kö.

Düsseldorf is known for its many bars in the downtown (Altstadt) area. In fact, many people refer to the Altstadt as the "longest bar in the world" ("laengste Theke der Welt"). The most common drink is "Altbier" or simply "Alt." This dark beer, served in small glasses, is available at practically any restaurant in the city. Altbier is only brewed in breweries around Düsseldorf. In the Altstadt you can enjoy Schlüssel, Uerige, Schumacher, and Füchschen beers, at traditional brewery restaurants. The waiters at these traditional restaurants are called "Koebes."
