Speak to the airline you're travelling with, they will be able to supply you with the paperwork you need. Going to Australia you will need to make sure your dog is fully up-to-date on every shot imaginable and has a passport, Australia is very very strict on the incoming and outgoing of anything that could possibly be living, right down to the mud on your boots, it may well be that your dog has to be quarantined properly also.
Definitely speak to the airline, if they don't know they'll be able to pass you on to those who can help. |

do you have to take him w/ u? seems it would be much safer for him to not travel since whenever people travel they get a cold. who knows what kind of cold or virus he could pick up overseas. the long plane trip will be very stressful as well. cargo holds are cold and noisy and prolly pretty freaky for an animal.

Shipping a large dog can be costly as it goes by weight and it will have to ride in the cargo hold. I looked into bringing one from Connecticut to Colorado in the US and at 130 lbs, it was going to be almost $1500 each way. Depending on how long you are going for, it would probably prove to be less costly and less stressful on the dog to find a good boarding kennel.
