Default Good books for teens?

I love Joyce Carol Oates, Roald Dahl, Sarah Dessen, Siobhan Vivian (A Little Friendly Advice), Jennifer Donnelly, John Green (Looking for Alaska, Abundance of Katherines)

Please nothing like Twilight, Sisterhood/Traveling Pants, Harry Potter, etc.

Anything by Mary Higgins Clark (she's a great mystery writer) or A Great and Terrible Beauty saga by Libba Bray.

Have you read Bone By Bone By Bone by Tony Johnston? It's a great book, and very short. Also be sure to check out Varjak Paw by SF Said. This could be one of my favorites, honestly. It's very good, and has illustrations.
