Default Phuket or Pattaya?

Hello,

i am planing to spend my next holidays in Thailand for the first time.
I am not shure where to go?? Pattaya or Phuket????

For me it is important that i can lay on the beach, meet Girls, visit bars and clubs

Maybe some of you can tell me why should i go to Pattaya and why should i go Phuket? What are the differences?

More questions:

1)-Is it better to take fly there and find a hotel there or is it better to book from a travel agency complete with hotel and flight?

2)How much money is enough for 2 weeks? I will go every night out and have fun. I am not an alcoholic so for me enough to drink few beers

3) Which month is the best time to travel there? Which month the cheapest time for flight tickets and for good weather?

Sorry for many questions....hope some of you can give me info.....

Thanks alot
Regards

If you have not been to Thailand and have two weeks to spent, why limit yourself to one place. There is so much to see and so many places to go in Thailand.

But if you are interested mainly in night life while laying on the beach is secondary, then Pattaya would be perfect. It is easy to get to from Bangkok, the main hub for international flights. Phuket is nice but you need to fly there from Bangkok.

If you are interested in some scenic tours and daytime activities while the nightlife is secondary then Phuket is the choice.

Since you have two weeks, why not do both plus Bangkok.

As for your other questions.

1) You can book upon arrival. There are plenty of choices. Maybe you could pre-book the first two nights of your arrival so that you have the time to scout around.

2) You can survived comfortably on as low as US$ 50 per day for everything but US$ 100 to 150 per day will give you more options and fun.

3) Anytime is a good time. December is nice where the weather is a bit cool but it could be crowded.

Well going by what you want Pattaya is the answer. You can go lay on Jontiem Beach all day then hit the Soi's at night for ladies.
Why Pattaya over Phuket. Well its cheaper has more bars more clubs more girls and does not require anymore flights once you get to Bangkok. All apart Phuket is also a brilliant place but not on the scale for single guys as Pattaya is.
Money wise that depends on alot but budget yourself on a minimum of 70 a day especially if you like the ladies. Normally I would spend at least 2000 on a 3 or 4 week holiday. But i drink alot haha.
I would advise a hotel booking before you go. Pattaya can get busy but generally hotels are reasonably priced. I prefer renting an serviced apartment for 4 weeks which usually costs around 150 with money back on electric not used. No pool but plenty of hotels will let you use theirs for a very small price.
Best time to go is Christmas. Weather is alot less humid but this is a very expensive time to go as flights are near double what they would be in apr or july.
I hope this helps a bit. Just go. Its the best place to holiday and I guarantee you will be back.

P.s. just to rub it in i'll be there July 11th for 4 weeks

Pattaya is only 133 kms from Bangkok so it is easy to get to. Pattaya is best known for its bars and night life and lay on the beach. There are many things to do during the day like go to Nong Nooch, the Tiger Zoo, Big Buddha up on the Hill, Koh larn (island) a 45 minute ferry ride away...etc etc... There is one big benefit of Pattaya over Phuket, it is less expensive and the entertainment offered is of high quality, there is literally 1000's of venues to choose from. Pattaya is not or prudes though, if you are offended by looking at bar girls working in open air bars then perhaps it may not be for you. It shouldn't affect you if you and your partner are broad minded.

Phuket is about 900 kms south. Will take you all night to get there by bus or you can fly in an hour. Phuket is a beautiful place with everything on offer for the tourist, trouble is it is expensive. The beaches are better but that does not concern you anyway but it is very beautiful. I always hire a motorbike and Phuket is an ideal place for riding around on. Plenty of bars and venues there too but just more expensive hope that helps.

Good luck with your decision.

Havent been to Pattaya, but go regularly to Phuket and LOVE it!
Even after 6 trips there, I wouldnt go without booking through the travel agent. The prices quoted to us separately were a lot more than the travel agent package price.
We take around $4000 spending for 3 weeks for two people and always come home with money, despite me being a shopaholic and hubby a big drinker. Everything is SOO cheap. We eat at Sweet Restaurant, have entree/main and sweets plus alcohol drinks and for two people is less than $20 total.
We always go in October (which is low season - 1 November is start of high season) because they used to offer two people for the price of one accommodation specials, but now that Bali is not so popular and people go to Phuket instead, the specials are rare, but still so cheap. It rains a bit each day, but stops soon after and you dry out with the humidity quickly.
I highly recommend a massage (head and shoulders, or legs and feet) EVERY day. $6 gets you one hour of heaven.
Have a wonderful time!...wherever you go

Well there is a lot more Industry in Patayya and the water is said to be dirty. Phuket is more of a tourist and a little more secluded but you still have Patong Beach if you want a little night life.
My preference would be Phuket

In my point of view, Phuket or Pattaya are the perfect places for travelling and tourists can enjoy some time with family and kids on their special events. I also explored both of these places during my last summer holidays and have a joyful time with my family. Now my Uncle also has a plan to go Phuket in coming up days to enjoy some time with his kids. I hope so that it will be a really great time for them. Any suggestion for them?
