I know a lot of Canadian people and they aren't mean but they are different from us, but they have a lot of similarities. But I have found that America is a globalists around the world, mostly everyone has been affected by our culture in some way. Canadians just happen to live closer and benefit from living closer. But when I was overseas, my friends there were telling me about how when Canadians come over they talk real bad about us and say how violent we are and how arrogant we are, etc. Basically all the things foreigners say. It sorta reminds of that friend that you have in high school that likes hanging out with you cause you are popular, but he talks about you behind your back. And I realized they talk about us, but they don't mind being mentioned with us when it comes to the good things we do.But I didn't really understand why they or any person from another country would be that way cause I don't think we have an opinion of foreigners either way cause from my travels and meeting people, it seems the world cares more about what we do than what's going on in their own countries.
AND I tried looking up information on what the "Canadian culture" , "Australian culture" was and I couldn't find anything, other than that of the native people of course, and it helped to see also why Canadians and Australians get along so well because they don't really have a culture either and haven't really contributed much to world history. Don't get me wrong I'm not prejudice or hating on them cause there isn't anything to hate on... I'm just curios as to why so many people don't like America but completely contradict themselves. You can't go on yahoo, msn, Google, you tube, myspace, or even the internet and say you hate America when we invented those things. Coca Cola is the number 1 drink in the world, Nike is the biggest sportswear brand in the world. The other teams in other from other countries in the Olympics is wearing Nike. Our music and movies ( basically our arts) is the hottest in the world. And I know a lot of people who say our music came from other places and we are European or whatever, but if you listen to the music that comes from other countries originally and before they took the American music and copied it, it sounds nothing like ours. We have our own style and sound. And the last time I checked the Revolutionary War was to stop us being called "European","African","Asian". We are all Americans. And black Americans fought more than anyone to have civil rights in this country so we are hardly African. And for those people who don't know much about Africans , have never been there, if you don't have many African friends. They try to be like black Americans and look up to us, so I don't think we are like them. Someone in these countries like us. But hey these are just my opinions . At the end of the day people should really stop judging us on our government (W) and look at what the American people have done for the world that's good, it would so out way the bad things. GO TEAM USA!!! Anyway, has anyone else noticed theses things not just from Canadians but from the rest of the world? Sometimes, it just feels like people like to point out our bad before they look at the good we have done and accomplished. Even American people tend to forget how great our nation is. Everyone has bad in there countries, people just blow ours up because we are the popular ones and people love to see us hurt and not succeed, especially cause it took us 50 years to do what took some countries hundreds of years to do. |

It didn't used to be the way you described. The policies of our current administration over the last 8 years has made us evil in the eyes of the rest of world. George Bush has basically said what we want, what we believe is all that matters and the rest of the world can get in line or screw em.
Well unfortunately with population growth and technologies growing the world is getting smaller and smaller. Everyone looks down on us, even our allies and neighbors. Hopefully we will elect a president with a different agenda and the US will be looked upon favorably again. |

You have a lot to learn.
To say that Canadians and Australians do not have their own culture is the most ridiculous thing you could say. How do you look up culture on the internet? Culture isn't defined, its expressed, and since you are not a part of either of them, it makes since that you wouldn't understand. I would advise you to never say that again, it makes you sound inedible naive. Of course every country has good and bad things about it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, you are also being naive if you think that the US does not benefit from other countries as well. Who do you think makes all of those fabulous Nike shoes? You can sit here and say our music is the most popular in the world because you live in the US. Of course that will be what you're exposed to most. I could go on and on about how your opinion makes no sense, however it would be a waste of time, and as I said before everyone is entitled to their own opinion. |
