Default Do you need a passport to get on a cruise within US?

Do you need a passport to get on a cruise within US? let's say, from San Diego to Seattle? or one US city to US city?

No...you do not even need a passport to go on a cruise that goes to Caribbean nations if it begins and ends in the U.S. You never need a passport to travel by any means within the U.S.

No,not until June 2009. You do need a birth certificate though. Just so you know, cruise ships that start and end in the USA, still have to go to a foreign port. That is why Alaskan cruises or Hawaiian cruise always have a foreign port included. I believe it is called the Jones act, so it is a legal reason they have to go to a foreign port.
